We finally got some nice weather in good old Wester PA. So the girlfriend and I got the Vette out and went for a cruise to the local car hop (Jerry's Curb Service for anyone from my area). The Vette ran just fine on the way there. We took about an hour just sitting outside eating and enjoying the great weather. But, when we started up and pulled out, the check engine light came on. Nothing seems to be out of place. All of the guages are ok and I also checked the oil to make sure that nothing funny was up with that. I also checked the gas cap to make sure that it was tight. The light stayed on the entire 30 minute ride home. I checked everything over carefully when I got it in the garage and still found nothing wrong. The book says that the problem is something to do with emissions. Can anyone give me any pointers or advice on what might be going on here? This is the 4th of July weekend and I would love to get the Vert out if the weather cooperates but do not want to do any damage to anything if there is something wrong.
Thanks guys. I am not at home right now and the vette is at home in the garage. I will be back there later so I will check the codes and then come back with more questions if I have them.

A month back, I dropped my car off to the valet guy when I went out to dinner on a date. The car came back with 'check engine' scrolling on the info screen. I was like . shut the car off, and restarted and hasn't been back on since. I havent bothered to look up codes since it was a one time deal.
I bought my used coupe and had it for 2 weeks. engine light came on and it was driving like crap.... I took it to discount autoparts and a really nice dude who had a little bit of knowledge with the ls1 did a free dianostic test on it and it said "multiply cyclinder misfireing" I then pooped in my pance. well after getting down and dirty at discount autoparts I though to myself the only I did was put on a pair of tsp long tubes and checked all my spark plug wires and sure enough found a loose one.. slipped it back on and she ran like new........they also checked my battery and altanator why I was there before I found out the problem.. but that would of been big money if I took it down to the chevy dealership to find out it was just a loose plug.... discount was free......... I should of tipped the guy now that i think about i t!
