Does it work...depends on expectations. Yes, it keeps the hot coolant from running through the throttle body. But I highly doubt it adds 6-8 horsepower as it indicates.
I put one on years ago to keep the throttle body cooler. If you are looking for quick/easy/cheap horsepower you are going to have to look somewhere else.
I did it on my old 95 Z28 b/c it was cheap and I was 20 (could tell no difference whatsoever), but I don't think I would do it to the C5. Just my .02!!
Iam surprised more C5 people haven't chimed in on this one. For me I did this for 2 common sense logical reasons. They were not hp related.
1. To keep the throttlebody cool. Now Iam not saying this so that to gain hp. Iam saying it when working on the car and you had to have it warm. For me Iam contstantly placing my hand here and why have an extra heat to burn yourself for no reason.
2. For ease of removing the TB to clean it. Why mess around with the damn coolant lines everytime you want to remove the tb?
The only downside to this mod is if you live in cold climates and take the car out say below 35 degrees you run the risk of the TB to freeze up. So if you take your vette out at those temps (and I sure as hell don't) then I wouldn't recommend this mod.
OH. if you want to pay the high corvette tax on these kits being sold, by all means go for it. But let me lend a suggestion. Go down to your local Lowes and by a 1/4 brass union that is barbed. It costs just over $2. It is located in the plumbing department. This is all you will need. You can use your existing clamps. But if you must use new clamps, all you need is a couple of small ones. I think you can buy a whole package of clamps at the dollar store lol
I can't believe people would pay $12 or $20 for these kits.

You beat me to it,,I was going to say this is a common hardware item that you could buy for a few bucks!! I do drive in cold wether and wouldn't waste my time,,Then again it might keep intake a bit cooler for summer trips to the strip!!
Do a search, this subject has been discussed and beaten to death. Unlike a carburetor where the fuel will actually heat up while passing through causing a loss of HP, the air flowing through a throttle body does so at such a rate that it is only in the throttle body for a fraction of a second so the temperature of the throttle body does little to affect the temperature of the air passing through. So this mod does nothing to regain any lost HP or add any additional HP

What about tip-in throttle response from a standing start?
Here's the skinny on that mod. If you live in the North, the reason why they engineered water to pass through the TB was so that in ICY conditions it would HEAT it up and DEFROST the TB in the event of extreme condition driving. Therefore if you bypass it, it'll (in theory) keep it cooler.
Now, if you live in Florida or Texas, I doubt this mod will really help. It may keep your TB 5 - 10 degrees cooler (WHICH WILL HELP....but for what a half a hp?) but as for seeing any performance gains out of it---yeah right. Save your 15 bucks towards an intake or exhaust system.
However, for the price, it can't hurt to do it especially if it's for a race vehicle. But if it's for a DD or a weekend warrior, save your money for something more real and seat-of-the-pants beneficial.

Even if the car is sitting still the air flowing through the throttle body is still only in the throttle body for a fraction of a second, granted once RPM's increase the airflow will increase, but even sitting still at an idle the air isn't in the throttle body long enough to change temperature.

What if there was a rag stuck in the intake and the only air you had was in the TB and Manifold and the car was baking in the sun all day?
