Hello everyone,
Me again... I need some insight on a issue im having as some of you know i'm modding the heck out of my 99 vert. My goal is to reach 650 to 700rwhp which I know I am going to get there as soon as I install the new heads and cam. But here is my question I have a set of lambo door hinges that I want to install, but my mechanic says that it will detract from the structural integrity of the vett due to the fact that it is a convertible. He says it just isn't smart to put those hinges on the a vette that is going to have 0ver 650rwhp and now has 540 to the rear wheels. So does anyone out there have any input into this I don't want to sacrifice safety for something that just looks good. So what is everyones take on this is there anyone who has over 600rwhp with lambo doors and is a vert? Let me know if it is truly unsfe I would like to know. Thanks in advance Jason
I'm running over 700 rwhp in a convertible. I have run at the track and on the street at WOT. IMO, It would not make one bit of difference what type of doors I had or if I had no doors at all. The body of our cars is strong enough to not twist or flex to make a diff on what type of door hinge you want to install.
The only thing I would caution you on is... in the event of a roll over... you wont be able to get out of your car if the door has to go up to allow your exit.
I have vertical doors (LSD) on my '00 vert that's at 550rwhp with the ECS Novi 2000 and other mod's. No problems. I can't imagine the way they are built that there would be an issue. Your only replacing the hinges and the replacements are very strong. The LSD's are even crash test certified. In Germany were they are built it's required by law.
I have them on my 00 vert. Im not running anywhere near that much power but cant see how it would affect it. And no worries on a roll over becasue all lambo door kits should open out then up.

Something to think about anyway.
If you have a roll over with a convertable, I don't think the doors opening is going to be your problem .
