So it seems like when my car warms up I get a sound of like low frequency squeeling. When I turn on the A/C the sound seems to go away. I've changed the main drive belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley. I've also replaced the A/C belt a couple weeks ago. Both were gatorback belts. I used to have the squeal at start up and it was high pitch. Changing belts got rid of that. Now I have this sound when it gets hot. Any ideas?
They can make noise at almost any temp or RPM. Some only squeal at high RPM, which would almost always be a warm temp.
Also need to look at your crank balancer to make sure it's not wobbling or "walking" off of the crankshaft. It is a fairly common LS1 problem.
You can also remove the main drive belt, after the car is warm, and crank the car to see if the noise changes. If not, remove the A/C belt while your there. If the noise goes away at either step, you'll know where to look.
Check under the car for even the slightest drips. Mine had a slight squeal then got worse. I just realized 2 days ago that it was the water pump. There were just a few drops about a month ago and someone told me that was a sign that the water pump bearing was going out. Just a thought.
It could be the ac clutch if the noise goes away when you engage the ac.
I had one go on a grand am in the 90's. It would be loud unless I turned on the air or defroster.
Maybe it can be lubed who knows.
