Default Need new rear tires - need input!

Guys,

My rear run-craps are now run-scraps - (that's a bald run-flat/slick)

-Not a daily driver
-Not driven in the rain (unless a surprise t-storm)
-Would like to go wider than the 275's if possible.

Heard some good things about Nitto's and Mich Pilots?

Don't know what you are looking at, but the OEM Runflats are very wide for their size, 10.3 inches of tread. They are wider than C5 Z06 tires (295s)! They have a very square corner, they look great on the car. Plus runflats get 3 mpg better mileage over non-runflats.

I like the Nitto Extremes I run in the front and they wear good. I have heard lots of good things from BFG KDWs, on my rears I run NT-01s and they are for the spirited driving I like to do

I just did a new set of Mich Pilots and they ride so much smoother than the Goodyears' I had before.

Contacted Nitto...

They gave me 2 options:

285/35/R18 nt555RII 97Y rated
305/40/18 nt555R 106V rated

They don't rank high in ride comfort or quietness? Can anyone translate that to driving experience?

Sectional width is 11.22 which is wider than run-craps?

Are there any run flat tire that will hook like a drag radial?

Sorry...when it comes to tires I'm

Look at the Goodyear GS-D3s also if you want to go with non-runflats. If you want to stick with runflats, look at the Firestone Firehawks.

I'm on my second set of Michelin Pilot Sports, and I love them. They are a bit pricey, and because they are soft compound, only expect about 18K to 20K out of them. BUT that soft compound really makes them sticky and give a nice ride. No flat spots & good rain handling.
Nittos aren't too bad either. I had some on my wife's 92, and they rode pretty well.
I have Khumo on her 01, and they tend to flat spot if it sits for more than a couple of days.
