Default Carlisle trip

Ok folks. I have a question for all that have attended before. We are looking at driving out on Friday night and leaving Sunday after it ends. We would not get there until probably sometime late Friday night. Is it worth it for the drive from Pittsburgh for the 1 1/2 days of the event? I have never been there but am getting excited about it this year.

It is very much worth it. This will be my 4th year and still have not seen everything. If you have a room it is worth it. I go up Friday morning and stay one day only. Maybe one of these years I'll get a room and stay all weekend like I do for Corvette weekend at Ocean City.

I do plan on getting a room for both Friday and Saturday night. I won't get there until real late on Friday due to work and the 3 1/2 hour drive from Western Pa.

It is definitely worth t. I have been going for 17 years and I still enjoy it. Start looking right away for rooms as most were sold out a year in advance. If you belong to a local vette club, they may have put aside a block of rooms. Check with them. NCOA also had some rooms put aside if you belong to them.

Yup, it's worth it! Are you looking for anything special? They have everything Corvette related. Pm me if you need a room, I may have a lead on an extra room.

DO IT !!!! You'll absolutely love it. The drive out is fun if you do it earlier in the day because there are Corvettes at every turn on the Pa. Turnpike. We always leave Thurs. morning and check in early afternoon when it is'nt as crowded. We are just about 1/2 hr closer than you are. Book a room as soon as you can it's already late , but thet are still some out there. Some times you have to look a bit farther out, possibly in the Harrisburg,Pa area. Check with Zipity. If your taking your Corvette there is Corvette only parking on the grounds for a fee 1st come till full. There is a Corvette club in your area that has a block of parking spaces reserved every year for it's members PM me if your interested in info on Corvette Club of Western Pa. CORVETTE OVERLOAD

It's a blast and well worth the trip. When you walk the fun field you just can't believe the distance that some of these guys drive. When you pull in they even have an area with water and hoses to clean the road grim off. You'll probably not be able to get a room anywhere close by-as others have said they are booked a year in advance.

Better check room availability because they go fast. It's a great show and you're close enough that the gas prices won't cramp your style.

I live in Johnstown. It's an easy drive on the turnpike. Try www.choicehotels.com for rooms. There's still plenty out there, but they are filling quick. But be sure to tell them when you make your reservations that you won't be arriving till later on Friday. That way they won't give away your room.

Worth the drive? ABSOLUTELY!!

each time; we've stayed Friday and Sat nights.

We arrive at the event Friday @ 11am; that gives us a little time to walk around before the forum group photo. Friday evening has usually been the forum group dinner; then Saturday at the fairgrounds - we have another group photo.

Although we spend the night Saturday, Yvonne and I no longer attend the event on Sunday; strictly spending Sat night just to get rest before the drive home Sun AM. Many flea market spaces and some vendors pack-up and leave Saturday evening.

I usually start a post around the first week of August (in the National Events section) about getting the group photo times determined, and the Friday evening group dinner organized.

If I can drive from ATL(700 miles each way), you can drive from Monaca.
This is about my 10th year......well worth the effort.

Hey Jeff. There are 3 of us that leave from Greensburg on Friday around 6am and come home about 7pm the same day. We only get to see about half of everything. It is very much worth the drive and stay over night.

Well, I made my reservations for Friday and Saturday night. I am stahying at the Quality Inn Riverfront about 15 miles away. My room is going to free from using some of my business travel awards. They still have some rooms available if anyone is still looking for a room. Hope to maybe run into some people up there from the forum.
