I am looking at a 2002 Z06 with 25,000 miles on it. The car was selling close to wholesale price so it did throw up a few flags for me. I looked in a little deeper and he stated some panels were replaced. I checked the vehicle report and it stated that the car was involved in an accident and the frame was bent. The car has been repaired since and is in good working order. I really like the car, but want to know if there are any surprises to look for. Should I go after the deal or walk away. Although it says the frame was fixed and perfect, how can i tell if its perfect. Could there be an problems with handling or anything like that?
Thanks
Alex
Depends on the price ... if it's super low priced and you don't mind that it was wrecked and fixed then have it checked out with a fine toothed comb. If the frame was bent I'd be worried about the frame and wheel alignment ... but a good frame shop could make some measurements on the rack and tell you if it's straight or not.
Way too much for a car with an accident, especially for it having prior damage. I learned my lesson a long time ago, always ask to see pics of the damage and then after also. Take it to a good repair shop and have them go over it, it's worth it.
I paid about 7000 more for a 1 owner 6700 mile Z16. Keep looking and good luck.
I think once a car has had its frame bent you want to avoid it. An accident that was severe could open a whole can of worms and problems.
It could be fixed 100% but it also might not. As somebody already typed I think there are enough Zs floating around that have not been damaged to warrant taking a chance here.
You dont need that headache. There are plenty of nice low mileage Z06 Vettes for sale with all kinds of ownership history. Its worth paying a little more for the peace of mind.
