1999 Vert Speaker Recommendations
-----------------------------------------
I replaced my stock Bose with the JVC 40 gig/DVD/Nav head unit. I used the Seagate module to accommodate the Bose speaker system. Pryor to the change the sound was perfect to me. A lot of bass and nice loud volume. Now I have very little bass and can only go half the volume before distorting.
Like to replace the speakers but I am not too knowledgeable with the task.
Can anyone recommend a combination of replacement speakers to get back what I lost? I am not looking to do a sub in the CD changer hole. Trying to keep it simple.
Do I have to run new wires or can I use existing Bose wires?
I'm sure there a lot more questions to ask but this is all I can think of for right now.
Thanks
Bill
I'm assuming that you like the stock Bose speakers, because you say they had nice bass, etc. My first suggestion would be to go into the equalizer settings on your new JVC head unit, and play around with that. When you say that you can only turn it up half-way before it distorts, that makes me think that there is some sort of bass boosting being done by the head unit. See if there is an option to turn it off.
But, if you were dead set on changing speakers, I would recommend anything from Alpine, Infinity, or Polk.
I think changing speakers may be what I need to do. Can you recommend what size speakers I will need?
Type of speakers?
Do I need an adapter for the door speakers? I saw them on fleabay.
Can I use the existing speaker wires from the Bose speakers or do I need to run new wires?
Thanks
Bill
