Default getting aligned when lowered

Didn't think it was gonna be this hard. Lowered the max on stock bolts, and I'm running tires that are about 1/2 or so lower than stock. PUt about 1000 on the car, and wanted to check the alignment. So far, have not found any place in OKC area who can get the car on their rack. All have the ramps , not drive on. I'll keep looking, but anyone else have that much trouble? I've seen some really slammed cars, and mine ain't that. Getting irritated.

I can call the guys that do mine out here in co and see if they know anyone in the okc area. I am lowered two inches and they have no problem with my car and are real pros so they would be the guys to know. Give me a day or so to find out. Good luck with the search.

My car is lowered with both the suspension AND on the bolts. I only have about 2.5" to 3" clearance. I deal with a local Big O tire shop, and they also deal with a lot of the local fart can guys who drive slammed cars. They have a set of ramps they built from 2 x 10 lumber to get our lowered cars on their racks. They work great.
A little customer service goes a long way...

thanks guys, all help appreciated, One place had the same idea you mentioned and I had, I used 1x4, then 2x4 to get it started up. A couple other places, there system was just couple feet off the ground, and their ramp was just to steep.

This is a problem that most owners who recommend another owner lower their car or owners who have lowered their own cars, seldom address.
I lowered my car on stock bolts/bushings last year. It resulted in approx. a 5/8" drop in the front and 3/4" drop in the rear. That's what GM suggested when the Z06 debuted.
I went to the dealership for the alignment after driving it about 200 miles and noticing the change in drop had subsided.
The dealership had a drive on rack (elevated) and even with careful placement of 2x6 lumber, was afraid of damaging the front bumper fascia. They wisely elected not to push their luck and have to fix any resulting damage. I respect and appreciate that.
They suggested an independent alignment shop in town with an old fashioned type alignment rack. The rack is grade level and the tech goes into a pit to make adjustments. They're still used for trucks and SUVs and commercial vehicles. You might try to locate such an independent shop. They do lots of low profile performance vehicles for just this reason...

The local shop I use has a set of 2x10 about 10 feet long wood that they put on the ramps and my car goes up them just fine lowered, I am surprised none of your shops can or will do this.

This is kind of like the "lowering tax"....You want the car that low, YOU have to make the compensations. In other words, YOU go out and get the necessary 2x10s, and fab up what YOU'LL need.

Before you get the impression that I'm some sarcastic SOB, I've been driving lowered cars for a LONG time, and that's what I had to do in order to get my cars aligned....and I did this years ago! The two front end shops that I deal with appreciate my situation, as well as my efforts to easily get my car on their racks. Secondly, once you make someramps for yourself, you own them for life....A one-time expense.

I'm surprised a Chevy or GMC dealership cannot accommodate one of their automobiles.

Hi okbkvette -

I had to have my car aligned in an "emergency" case while on a long road trip.

I was in Hancock Michigan at the time.

I contacted the Goodyear service center in Hancock and the owner told me to bring the car in.

He said that he would have to purchase boards to lay on the ramps of the alignment rack, and that he would have to charge me for the boards as he did not have any.

Long story a little shorter, they bought a 2X10, had it cut in half, and used those to get my car (02 Z06 lowered to stock limits) on the rack with no issues at all.

In addition, they even offered me the boards when I left, since I had paid for them - but I told them to keep them for the next lowered car that comes in .

Oh - the total, for a four wheel computer alignment, including the board and them having to send a worker to a lumber yard to buy it, was $69.00.

I have a couple of 4 foot 2X10's that I use as ramps to get my snowblower in my truck that I had to use when a friends Z06 had the "service column lock" in my driveway - I used those to help get his car on the flatbed car-hauler.

I am not sure what the specific issue that someone would have, but the problem has been entirely solvable in all of the instances that I have been personally involved with.

best regards -

The shop I take my car to has a drive on Hunter rack to do the alignment. My car is lowered and they use 2x6's. They are in Liberal KS. I have to drive about 70 miles but worth it to get the job done right!
