The only person who should wash your car is yourself or a high end detailer.
Car brushes-damage paint. Fibers (and the dirt caught on them) inflict microscopic damage to the paint.
Hand washes- damage paint. When Bozo the car washer drys your semil clean rims with a towel (picking up metal shavings) or kindly scrubs the dirt of the paint that they missed (using the same towel) you are getting thousands and millions of scratches on the paint's surface.
Automated washed- damage paint. Same as brush. The brushless one's use a heavy deteregent which dries out paint and removes way.
Carefull two bucket washing with a foam gun-no damage to paint
I go to a drive thru with every fill up. Looks great, no scratches.
Doesn't have rails. I pull forward till light turns RED, then I stop.

Some of the nicer car wash places offer a hand wash
I have one by me that pulls the car off to the side and hand washes it with new bucket of soap every time. They are also very good at not putting soap on my convertible top.....just rinse it with water. They hand dry it and wax it too. You might want to check with your local drive thru place and see if they offer that service.
Well, I dont care HOW dirty my vette is, or how busy I am, I would NEVER let anybody else wash my car. First of all, I love to wash it, just because it gives me a chance to inspect every inch of it while washing/drying/waxing. Second, NOBODY does as good a job as I do. OK....I admit....I am ****!

Don't move to Georgia. With our "drought", we're on water restrictions. We CAN'T wash our cars. Our only option is to take it to a hand wash place (businesses are exempt) and then bring it home to finish it.

I would close the garage door and bucket water out to get it done. I actually have a water spigot in the garage should the need ever arise.

Sorry offtrack^^^ I wash mine at home and only once sprayed it with rinse water to try and loosen some love bugs on a long trip south, about 17 hours from home.

Well, there have been sightings of some fool in our subdivision out washing a black Corvette at 4:00 in the morning...but of course, I don't know anything about that.

This will work and I have done it a few times. I would avoid the ones with brushes though. Word to the wise, be carefull pulling in and out. My friend hit a rail on the way out (too close to one side) and ripped off a valve stem and had to be towed home.
What is this two bucket washing method? I have one bucket I use for the soap and water, a mit to wash the car and a hose to do the rinsing. What does the second bucket do?
