Default Jacking Pucks...

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a local place in the Orlando, FL area to get jacking pucks for my C5. I am going to be putting new tires on this weekend and I forgot to get some pucks, so I was hoping I could find someplace local to pick up a set.

What I did was go to a sporting goods store, like Dick's or Sports Authority, and buy a bag of hockey pucks. Set 'em on the jack and had no problems. Even when I had a tire shop do some work, I spoke with the shop manager and showed him where the jacking points were. He had no problem using the pucks.

That's the cheap way I did it!

Find a BMW dealer and pick up a set of 4 BMW Round Pads (Part# 51 71 1 960 752 for A 2004 325ci)... install and never look back!

Stop by your local Hockey is Us™ shop, which for us here in Canada is on every 2nd street corner. Get yourself 4 Wayne Gretzky signature pucks and you're off & skatin............err running.

You can spend any where from $10 on up to $100 for four pucks. I made mine out of 4 hockey pucks from Play it Again Sports and 4 eye bolts from Home Depot. BMW pucks work also and they are not expensive. You can order them on the internet from just about any of the suppliers, but you will pay a lot more money. It really depends on your teast and how much you want to spend.

There are some real nice billet aluminum ones available, but I find that the rubber hockey pucks work just fine. I only use mine if I am going to friends shop and using his lift. At home I jack it up in the front and rear on the main cross member. Then I install the pucks and lower it down on the jack stands.

Seeing we are both in Florida, we would be getting Vinny Lecavalier signature pucks.

Can someone post pictures of their vette on jackstands at the jacking points ? If I were to remove one wheel at a time so I can take them home to polish, whats the best strategy. My car sits in a parking lot.

Thanks.

I agree with everything thats been said on here about the different ways to make your own pucks. WORST case and you HAVE to lift it without pucks it can be done without hurting your car on a two post lift with rubber pads on the jacking points. make sure the pads are sitting on the frame and NOT the rocker panel. put the front pad in the space just forward of where the rocker panel ends. for the rear jacking point you will have to turn the jacking pad so it looks like a diamond vice a square in relation to the longitudinal axis of the car in order for it not to come in contact with the rocker panels. stay clear of the rocker panels and you'll be fine. Good Luck!
