I'm looking for a hardtop for my 98' vert. I went to a couple of websites and I'm surprised to see different types of designs (some good and some bad). Do any of you brothers or sisters know a reputable place to purchase a hardtop? Any suggestions, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks fox and Dav! Fox, on your C5 vert you left the top stock?
Dav, how was your experience with smoothline? Do you like the product? Was it to your liking? Any of you come to Hawaii I owe you dinner! Thanks for replying.

Aloha!
Ive got one. The only reason I have it is for racing and even then I don't like having it on. Don't waste the money unless you need it for racing.
All it will do is reduce your trunk space (the soft top needs to be down).
My recommendation would be NOT to buy one. I had a hard top for my MB 450SL, and it was a pain in the A$$ to install, remove, and store.
I had one for my '91. It was a PIA. The only reason I had it was that my local drag strip would not let me race my convertiable without either a roll cage or a hardtop. (to qualify as a coupe)
Thanks for the all the opinions and info family. I'm a hardcase because I like the FRC and the vert look. I'm just a selfish guy...tell me please, if there are any positives...any brothers and sisters?

Not much upside unless it's your DD and it get's cold where your at.
I was thinking it would save the convertable top from salt/snow. It would not be any warmer inside.
Possibly..Mine is garage kept and everyone else I know that keeps it outside has a cover on it. Hard tops are expensive (at least as much as a new soft top), and don't provide any real functionality.
Here’s mine with a hard top that a guy is asking WAY 2 much for.
I like it. My vette IS a daily driver. I would like it for the winter but it is cheaper to rent a storage room for a couple of months for a couple of years for what it cost for the top.
The majority has spoken...I'm very impulsive, and fortunately for me, my brothers and sisters on corvetteforum.com always looks out for their fellow member. For that I thank you all!

Well, here's a dissenting view. Had hardtops for my '62 and '73. Used them in winter months for added warmth, quiet, and security in urban areas. When installed, I didn't have to worry about vandalism/slashed tops. Like all things Vette, it's a matter of personal choice.
