Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. We've all heard this question a dozen times and I agree - - Get the C5.
But what if you already HAVE a C5?
I'm looking for a daily driver and I can get a C5 coupe or a C4 Vert for about the same price within my budget.
On one hand, the C5 is a much better car. On the other, I've already got one, so why not get another generation?
It all boils down to the condition of the cars rather than whether it is a C5 or a C4, IMHO. The C5 could be a lemon and the C4 the gem or vice versa.
Additionally, why would the C4 Vert be the same price as the C5 coupe unless the C4 was well cared for and or the C5 not? I would think the C5 would be more regardless of the fact the C4 is a vert (? )
I had a 84 for about 4 years and to be honest now that I have a C5 I just couldn't go backwards. If I couldn't get into a c-6 which i can't right now I would find a different car all together. There are other sports cars I'd rather get into than a c-4 and YES I love Corvettes but there's nothing about a c-4 to get excited about. Been there done that.

I don't really have a specfic car in mind. I've just been browsing Auto Trader and saw a nice, low mileage C4 Vert for 17 and a nice C5 coupe for 18, so they're close, but not necessarily the same price.
I went from a 93 C4 coupe to an 03 C5 coupe. Especially if you are looking for a DD, the C5 is the right move. I had so many issues with my 93, that I really didn't like it at all, after the first two years. The C5 is just a pleasure to drive as far as ride quality, performance, quieter interior cabin, easier to get in and out of, and general reliability. There is no way I'd ever consider my C4 as a DD, but my C5 could do it.BTW, I had 75K miles on the C4, and now have about 46K on the C5.

Jack,
Try the Lemon Lots (there's a web site) at the various military bases, found a nice C4 for a SS agent at Andrews. She bought it immediately, good deal, too.
I had a '90 C4 as a DD and although I loved the car back then, compared to the C5, there's no comparison. The C4 rides like a brick compared to my C5 and everytime I jump into my '02, I think of the ride quality of my old C4.
I know the dilema your having though (buying another C5 when you already have one and you want something different). I just don't think that even a 1000 mile C4 will have nice DD qualities that your C5 has now.
To choose between the two, I vote the C5.
Good luck with your decision and let us know the outcome.

C4 is a great daily driver but,the C5 is better. If money was not an issue
then I would opt for the C5 but,if I happened to find a C4 to my liking
I wouldn't turn it down either.
If you already have a C5, get a C4 convertible. I did the exact same thing in 2006. I drove it for a year as my DD and then sold it for more than I paid for it.
