engine shuts off
I have an 03 that the engine shuts off everytime you start to move, I know that before I just pulled the key out and waited 10 seconds and it was fine but my wife was driveing it this time and she just kept trying and now it won't reset, I don't know what causes this to begin with and I'm wondering if there is a way to reset something to fix it, need help.

Are you showing any codes?????? Is the car a 6-speed???????? If so, sounds like the fuel shut off has activated ( column lock syndrome) You may have a column lock bypass kit installed, but the fuel issue needs addressed.

My '99 has done the same thing twice now, but it started right up and away I went, mine is the A4. It has had the column lock recall done but it doesn't have the bypass kit, should I get it?

As indicated there is a likely cause of this related to column lock system but your DIC would be displaying a clear message. Sounds like you need to read the info in the link above.
The PCM will shut fuel if it gets a message from the BCM that the column lock is not properly operating. Pull the codes and see what it's saying.
