Still working on eng comp, now have the tanks painted Mag Red with the good ol' model car spray paint. Think they came out pretty good & again match the Mag Red car color pretty close. Still got more idea's & stuff to do. All caps are chrome now thanks to other forum members selling their (not so) used parts.
You have done one fine DIY paint job and it really wakes up your engine bay
Thanks much, I think it's coming along pretty good for a low budget job. I have a couple of more little cheapo tricks up my sleeve for eng comp, but it has just been too hot lately to get out there & do anything
I'll for sure put up pics when I get 'em done.
You need to ditch the red intake coupler... it stick out like a sore thumb w/ the mag red treatment.
Yeah, tell me about it, but it does look better than the accordion job that was on there. Have a black one you want to swap for? Can you paint this silicone stuff, will paint stick to it? If so, I'll just paint it flat or gloss black.
You know, I saw your post where you were selling that mag red bra, but I already have a black bra that I modified (cut the plastic out in front of the Z06 screens, cause my Vararam B2 pulls intake air thru there) & black mirror bra's & I thought about it. I even went out & pulled car out of garage & put the bra on & I think I like the contrast of the black bra w/the mag red better, but thanks for the offer & good luck w/the sale. And my bra has a clear plastic license plate cover & I am thinking about doing the license plate air intake mod also & all I will have to do is cut the plastic out of that area for it to work also.
Thanks for the nice comments folks, makes me feel good cause this is really a low budget project. Counting the chrome intake cover (used) & caps (used) chrome lettering (new) & paint, I have about $225.00 invested in engine compartment. Vararam B2 & BB Rte 66 system was on car when I bought it.
I also have some idea's for some wheel well covers like the stainless steel one's sold by the catalogs, only made out of Lexan & painted body color with velcro tape on back so they can be popped off if you need to work on engine & maybe a year plate (for upper right hand side of hood) & maybe custom battery den cover, all made out of Lexan. I just bought a used scroll saw, so we'll have to see how much trouble this is to do. If it's not too bad, maybe might make some for forum members (without the Corvette tax).
