Default Will It Fit

If you put the rear 18" C5Z rims to the front can you run most of the available big brake kits.

I do believe that the rear speedlines do give enough clearance for big brakes.
I spoke with Anthony at LG Motorsports, and he said some of the bigger kits should fit.(it was a while ago-don't remember all the details)
Give him a call.
I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

OOoops, I didn't pick up on your "C5Z rims" issue. They fit fine inside 18" Kineses K27 rims. Sorry.

As long as the calipers are the same size as the C6 Z06 units... there is about 3mm clearnace between the outside o fthe caliper adn the inside of the sock C5 Z06 rear wheel spokes.

This is the install I did last night.

Old C5 rotors = 18.75lbs (vs C6 Z06 rotors @ 27lbs each!!!!)

New Hardbar rotors = 15.60lbs

Old C5 Calipers = 10.5lbs

New C6 Z Calipers = 11.7lbs

Old vs New

Completed and ready for some fun

Default OT a bit question. Sorry.

RC45 I was wondering something. I have heard when running the same diameter wheel on the front and back, 18/18 rather than the stock stagger 17/18 that the AH can occasionally have issues. I don't know if this meant throwing codes or acting funny I have only seen references to it rather than an in depth discussion.

If you are running the 18in back wheels on the front of your car with 18 inchers in back also I was wondering if you have seen anything odd in normal street type driving AH wise? Oh, and what tire size do you like for the front when running the 18 rear wheel on the front of the car?

Sounds like a real nice way to get BBK levels of brake performance without the $6k dollar pricetag. Love how the DRM ducts look also. I saw the description of them on the LG website but there was no picture and I was wondering why they were more expensive. That molded part explains it, but boy that looks like a much safer way to duct the air past the tire than a round tube, I could just see a silicone tube getting grabbed by the tire and torn off. Do the big tires hit the molded duct?

Sorry for all the questions RC45. Great looking setup by the way. Hope it works out well, I would be really interested in something like that.

If you turn off AH I am sure you could run any tyres on all four corners.

I have no problems as I run 305/30's in front and 335/30's out back so I have preserved the stagger between the front a rear wheels. I have not suffered any AH, TC or ABS issues to date.

This is a pretty cost effective way to get into "big brakes" without spending big dollars up front.

The calipers were $500 and the rotors were $750 and pads are about $250 a set.

So figure $1500 to for whole setup. Other BBK's are about $2500 per axle at the low end, so we save $1000 going in.

does running the back wheel on the front cause the wheel to stick outside the fender?

Default Wheels

I have factory 18"x10.5" wheels on the front of my car without any issues with the stock brakes.

I just put on four piston Brembos with 14" rotors and these wheels WILL NOT FIT without a 5/16th spacer. The rotors fit but the calipers do not.

Of course I was told they would but I checked first and discovered the problem and sure enough it required spacers.

I am not a big fan of spacers and wiil only use my factory wheels for autocrossing with the spacers.

Just ordered custom CCW SP500's for the street.

The wheels WILL hit the DRM brake ducts at full lock but just by a little bit.

Don

The rim does not stick out but the tire does a little. You cannot notice it if you use a tire that has rounded corners like the Falken 615's I use.

If they are 18" Kinesis, wouldn't they be K28'S? I'm not sure what offsets you are using. I'd love to go with a BBK, but my stock calipers only clear my K28's by 1/4".

Where you getting the Calipers from?

Besides SS brake lines, rotors and pads, anything else you needed to get for the conversion?
