Been doing alot of work on my stereo......noted after putting it back together for......lost count how many times, that the dash release button no longer functions. Works off the fob just fine.
Checked the wiring plug behing the button and it is still plugged in.
Is there a fuse ?
Yup, fuse #32 in the pass footwell, 15amp. Also powers the fog lamps, fuel door release, and traction control switch.
Check the fuses. I had the same problem with mine after a radio install. My fuel door would also not pop, check to make sure that is working too. There is a diagram under the fuse panel covers. Here is what fixed it for me...
Under the passenger kick panel fuse box:
#26 F/TNKDR (Fuel Tank Door) 10A was blown (obviously from my little oversight letting the positive lead touch the subframe... whoops! sparks) Replaced with underhood fuse box spare... fixed.
#39 HTCHTRK REL (Big fuse) I thought was blown. I visually could not tell if it was blown so I swapped it with my horn fuse (same size from the engine fuse box), the trunk now pops. I put the "blown" fuse where the horn was, planning to get another one in the next day or so. I was surprised to see that the horn still worked. Odd...

Reason: speeling
Good info. I should have been more specific. Fuse #32 only powers the SWITCH. If your fuel door, and fogs are working, then #32 is good, and you need to check #39, as Defender says.
