Default Engine noise

Have a 2002 Z and just started getting the 'sounds like a sewing machine' noise from the engine.. Have 28,000 miles .. Is this normal .. Would appreciate any feedback as I am getting ready for road trip

Thanks ahead of time

So I take it you have all of a sudden noticed a totally different sound from the engine?

Most LS6s have some valve train noise to some degree. Some (even 2002+) will also have some slight cold piston slap for the first couple of minutes after a cold start-up.

Get it checked before you take a road trip. You may have broken a valve spring.

Definite possibility. Also, a broken valve spring may set a trouble code if the engine is running badly as a result of the spring failure.
