Default Glove Box Latch Failure

Yesterday I opened my glove box and the latch/lock assembly fell to the floor. The plastic pieces that the two screws go into fell apart as well as the right hinge for the handle (?). Right now I have the parts "super gluded" for short term use. I went to the dealer this morning and asked them to order me a new latch assembly. We looked the item up in the computer and came up with nada! It showed the lock but not the assembly. There was a blur on the part list (item 46) that might be what I need (the discription was vague...) Off course it was a back order item. They are going to bring it in in the hopes it is what I need. ($34) I assume it comes without the lock. I want to retain my old lock.

Anyone have experience with this? Mahalo!!!

usually the latch breaks, but the lock cylinder? really? That doesn't happen often. My latch has broken, I got a new one for $13. My lock cylinder worked just fine.

No, no, no. The lock is ok. Only the latching mechanism is shot.

But tell me; how easy hard was it to do an R & R on the lock? And where did you get the new latch mechanism?

The part came in today. (minus the lock - GREAT!) A mechanic at the dealership took out the lock for me and installed it in the new latch. Tricky procedure, but simple.

Mine broke this morning driving down the road the box just fell open with broken plastic pieces. Did you have any luck ordering the parts on line. After a quick search I cannot find them.

thanks
