I have a Yank 3200, and it is very snappy when you jump on it. It shifts right at 3200 putting the motor in the power band. There is no slip, and in normal driving you can't tell the difference between the stock unit and the Yank. The temperature remained the same. I hear that it subtracts around 1/2 second from the quarter mile times, so it is a cost effective mod. Labor should be minimal if you have it done at the same time as the 342s.
Doing a swap from 2.73 to 3.42 is a huge sotp difference! Car will feel much faster and pull hard. I just went from 3.15's to 3.42's and added a 3400 high converter! Best mod yet! Drivability is pretty much unaffected until you get on it, and feels like a completely different car. If I were you I would go ahead and do the high stall converter, you will not regret it. It really will not cause serious traction/drivability issues on the road as along as you leave the traction control on. Gimme some feedback! Gears and a converter are the best mods you can do to an automatic car! Go for it!

Almost any of our cars can smoke the tires from a stop, but with the mods you have, I don't think traction will be a big deal at 40. I run 3:42's and a Yank 3500 and have no problems with drivability.
how much throttle do you have to give it before the stall kicks up to it's limit? i just dont want the rpm racing up to 3000 all the time when I give it some gas!
From: Marlton. Increasing performance one speeding ticket at a time! NJ

Doesn't work that way. Car will drive almost like stock. Pefectly streetable at 1000 RPM's.
How do i know what gears i've got? not very technical am I!!
If is an A4, put it in 3rd, not D, and go 70 mph. The rpm will be the gear ratio. 2730 rpm is 273s, and 3150 is the 315s. If you get a reading like 3420 then someone swapped in the 342s. The M6 came with 342s from the factory.
I wouldn't go higher then a Yank 3200SS. I've got the 3600SS and at times it's just to much for the street. Again I say Yank because they are tighter then the Vigilante Converters
