Have c-5 roadster with 17000 miles. 12 disk changer in trunk will load but but will not play. the single dish in dash works fine. anyone have a cure???????
Do you receive "ERR" on the headunit? Check the simple stuff—make sure it's not trying to play MP3 tracks and make sure the slide door on the 12 disc is completely closed. I know it sounds mindless, but I had both of those problems before.
Do you hear them loading when you first plug in the cassette? Do you have the CDs in the right way. I put some in upside down and they did not play. Try turning them over.
thanks . no err, disks loaded correctly, can hear them load. when using radio / cd dash buttons they will show new disk/&SONG# but no sound
Are they store-bought discs or did you burn them?
I'm led to believe that it's a problem with the discs themselves since the headunit is recognizing that there are discs in the cassette. If it was a problem with the connection between the cassette and headunit, you would not be able to see the track and disc numbers.

Mine went south like yours. Look on the For Sale site. You should be able to find one for under $100.
Best Buy and Circuit City won't touch them. I didn't bother with Chevrolet as I know they'd want an arm and a leg. I found a local shop who wanted $250 plus parts to bench test and repair it.
EBay is worth a try too.
Good luck
I have a changer I could sell you. Here's the deal .... I have had it sitting for some time so I don't remember much about it (2 C6's ago) I'll make you a deal you can't resist, well, maybe. You pay shipping and Ill send it. If it works, you paypal me $50. If it doesn't, you're out the shipping. This is the honor system at it's best
I can post up a couple pictures if you're interested.
I'm on my third OEM changer in my 2001. This one is from a 2003 and is by far the best. It plays better, and has been far more reliable. I will never play "store bought" CDs in a GM furnished changer again. Once the changer starts to go, it eats them. I only record on quality discs and no faster than 4X (8X if that's the lowest your burner goes).
