There are a ton of threads on this one. Use the search feature and best c5 as the keyword.

Best? Define best?
Sure the 04 is the newest but you're going to pay a premium for it. And probably be the only one to know it.
Best as in best value? Can't beat a well cared for 97-99 for around $15K.

I have a 2000 which I love, but I've modded it with upgrades to pick up some of the features that came in later years....so my advice would be to buy the most recent year your pocketbook can afford.

04, or an 03 Anniversary Edition would be my choices...close second would definately be 99-00 FRC's ...because they were the best I could afford at my time of purchase...haha

Do a search on the subject as others have said. However, as Humanoid responded, the car you drove was probably the best, since it was the last of an era, the 2004, with all the bugs worked out of it.

Best C5
In today's market, 02 for the money. But like others have said, newest one you can get for what you want to spend. Each year is pretty much as good as any other.

Even after my initial post, I agree with the 02 or newer as the best advice. For the prices that are out there, you can't go too far wrong with 02's and up.
