Default GMPP extension question.

If one already has a GMPP, and let's give the following conditions:

Enough time left to renew.

Customer has 50,000 miles.
Current warranty is good until 70,000 miles.

Customer buys 36,000 mile warranty.

Is his warranty good until 86,000, (same as extending from factory warranty)
or is the previous mileage cap retained, and he's good until 106,000?

You might want to talk to Ken Fichtner, a chevy dealer. He frequents this forum and sell GMPP warranty. I extended my warranty through him. Even if you don't buy from him I think he will answer your questions. But he is cheaper than any one I've ever found. Email him at kenfichtner@fichtnerchevrolet.com here's his phone number 406-628-4618

I got my original warranty from Ken, and if I extend it, he'll have my business too. It's actually not up for a while yet, but I wanted to throw this question of curiosity out there.

I would think it would start at the current mileage.
Obviously, check to be sure, and make sure you do it early enough. I'm not positive, but I think it needs to be done at least one month prior to expiring.

You should be able to find answers to everything you ask from their website...or contact them directly...

I'm 99% certain that the extended warranty is good for the mileage or time specified from the date the contract is signed.

In your case, that would mean 86,000.

I'm assuming that your asking because your time limit (72months?) is approaching. Sorry, but your stuck. It's time or mileage, which ever comes first.

The more unscrupulous of us would report the mileage much higher than actual , but that won't help you for service if you bring it in below mileage.

Best option is to buy a plan with more years and lower mileage, since those are somewhat cheaper.

The time factor is also involved, and you do not mention when the extended warranty time is up.
Obviously, you want to renew at the last possible date.
I would think that everything starts over just as it does when you purchased the original plan. If you buy it early, you give up time and mileage.
