Hey guys, Im planning on making my first trip ever to carlisle and im going to bring my new Twin Turbo Widebody vert. I know its an amazing show and i cant freakin wait to go BUT.......... I heard that you need to be associated with a club or group to get a good spot on the fairgrounds. The story i heard was you have to park on the "hill" if you dont run with a group of people that have a spot reserved. Is this true? If so I would appreciate any suggestions for some clubs or groups that i can join in the southern NY or northern NJ area. Im not looking to join a group just for the spot either, i have been looking for a group to join long term and i plan on being very active. Thanks, Kevin

Hey Kevin, we joined Corvette Club of America some time ago and park with them... It's level ground and close to everything... PM me if you need any other info. Would love to have your wide body vette parked with our two cars...
Can't really say I've heard of that one. You park on the "fun field" and pick your on spot. On saturday they come around and pick a couple of cars for awards. I'm with a club and we'll hang out but never given one spot over another. Some leave their cars there overnight-others will go back to a motel and when you come back it's whoever gets their first parks were they want.
Im not going to make it down untill friday mid day ar late afternoon. oh well, i might just party friday night and bring the car to the fairgrounds sat morning.
Cool, thanks for clearing some things up guys. I'll be at happy hour wayne, cant wait! I also just changed my schedule around so i will be leaving NY friday morning instead of afternoon. What time do the gates open?
Unless you are very young, this visit will probably wear you out. It's a lot of walking, 5 to 10 miles, and it will be hot. There is a little ticket office just off one of the gates to get your parking access to the fairgrounds, and if you stay late, on Sunday at 3pm they have a Corvette giveaway. You can never have to many corvettes! You can find any part for any year Corvette (and then some). Lots of interesting stuff and if you wanna another Vette, you can buy it, in any condition. I saw a 53 SURVIVOR and he wanted $80k for it. Also, if you have a significant spouse who is on the fence about buying a Vette, a trip to Carlisle will change her mind. ps Most of the name brand vendors offer free shipping at Carlisle.
As a regular to Carlisle, I can tell you that you definitely DON'T have to belong to any group to get a good spot. If you wait till Saturday morning, come EARLY! Like 6 am. Come in gate 3 and turn right. You can pick any spot on the fun field. It's all flat in this area and close to everything. If you park on the hill, be prepared to hike cause it's steep in places. And by the end of the day, that hill can seem like a mountain.
But anyhow, no, you don't need to belong to anything to get a good spot to park.
My father and I are signed up for the fun field See you all there. He'll be in his Z16 and I'll have the targa Z06 on the road.
EDIT: If you're a forum member try to wear a badge or shirt of some kind. It'd be nice to put faces with names. I have a shirt from one of the cruise-ins with my SN on it.
Hi There,
The gates open at 7 a.m.on all 3 days starts 8/22/08. Enter gate #3 as the others have stated. I would pre-register at carlisleevents.com Fun field is on a first come basis.

awesome, thanks again for the info. i guess i should drive down and just check in friday and hang out friday night because it sounds like you have to be there pretty early to get a parking spot. i dont think i would be able to make it into carlisle any earlier than noon or so on friday. What do you guys think?
