I installed an ebay HID fog light kit (didn't know Jhonathan was selling them at the time) and they worked fine except I needed a 15amp fuse instead of the 10amp and they flickered at startup which I thought was attributed to needing more amperage. I've since read the threads about the flicker problem so I'll take that into consideration once I get them working again.
Now for the problem. I was advised to get a relay harness for the fogs so I got one from my vendor. I installed it but I can't get it to work. First I discovered one wire from the stock fog light wiring to the relay did not have continuity, so I took it apart and fixed that. When I wired everything up again, I turned it on and saw a very brief flash and then nothing but also smelled something like burnt wiring. I haven't found what blew. Maybe the relay. It was too late so I just bagged it for the rest of the day.
Here's how I had it wired: fused power wire to relay, ground to relay bundle, one wire from OEM fog plug to relay (85) other wire from OEM fog plug to relay (86)
Does this sound correct? The harness came with shrink tubing bundling the wiring before it goes into the relay socket so I didn't trace everything. But I'm thinking I have it correctly described.
Any thoughts? Should I just make my own relay wiring? If I do, then I need to run the power from the battery out one terminal of the relay to the + terminal of the ballast and run the ground from the ballast to ground. So I just need OEM wires to trigger the relay and fused power to the relay? 16ga wire should be OK? and 25amp fuse?

I've heard that the first time you power up HID Headlites it may take 10 mins. for them to come on due to the ballast. May be the same W/fogs, just a thought.
The fog light wiring harness is to provide a better source of power for the new HID fog lights, without it you may find only 1 fog light on at a time.
I'm not sure what you mean by your wirinig, but here is what I did:
I took the stock OEM fog plug and I used it to power the relay, no power to the fog lights or HID ballest, only in and out of the relay, this way when the fog lights are turned on, the relay is activated, this uses the OEM fuse for the fogs.
( I made this connection by using a stock bulb and removing all the glass and soldering wires to each end of where the filtments would have been )(In other words I only used the bulb for it's connector)
I then took a wire from the new wiring harness thru a new fuse and into the switchable side of the relay and then from the last relay connection to the new ballest ... the other end of the ballest goes to ground.
Got a new relay today. Decided to hook the fogs back up to the OEM wiring to make sure they still worked. They did. Went back and checked all other connections and everything looked good. Checked voltage at the relay socket and even checked that the relay was activating when I turned to fogs on. All good. Found out the plug wiring is reversed in the harness. Dang! Tried to remove the pins to swap them and broke the first pin getting it out. Of course that let me see what needs to be done to remove them and removed the 2nd one just fine. Tomorrow I will see if I can get and OEM male socket for the fog lights. Should have just built my own relay harness. I practically am.
