Im 22 and got my Z this past November. I got a good job working for a big name oil company here in Texas right after I turned 21. I also live at home still saving money before I move out. The Z doesn't hurt me too bad from saving since thats about the only bill I pay besides gas, insurance and cell phone. Am I a spoiled brat? Some may say so but I don't care I love my Z and being able to save before I get into some big bills.

at 17 i bought a 1968 Coronet 440, restored it into a Coronet R/T Clone. ((( I PAID FOR EVERYTHING NOT MOM AND DAD ))) i bummed rides until the last 2 weeks of my senior year puting all the money i made "Washing dishes at an old folks home" to restor that car. as soon as i graduated all i had left was to paint it so had my friends uncle paint it for me, "I helped prep 100% and stripped the car solo"... it had the exact engine buildup from "Car Craft magazine's Big Block Shootout" BUILT 440... 450hp 602Ft Lbs...

Sold it on ebay to "Custom hot rods and hourse power" and now its one of their Shop Hot rods....

Got $19,000 for the Dodge, Found a Vette on AutoTrader for 23k... Talked him down to 19k... My buddie drove me over to Seattle after i got off work and PAID CASH for the Vette.

BTW i still work 2 jobs at 60 hours a week, and i allways get the Mommy and Daddy speach when people see me but those who know me know that i work my a$$ off

Go to school, stay in school, pay attention, and graduate. That's about it. You have to have a good education to get a decent job, or you will be stuck swimming around like all the rest of the uneducated people. There are a small percentage of good ole' people out there that work very hard and get good paying jobs without an education but it isn't very often.

I got a full paid scholarship because of my grades to a trade school and got my associates degree right out of high school. I now work for a large company that builds shelves. I work in the tool and die shop and I program and run all the CNC equipment. I am a machinist in a sense, but more of a tool maker. I really like my job but I do work a whole lot of hours. Gets old sometimes, but, without it I wouldn't have closed on my first house at the age of 22, own a Corvette, or own a Z-71 pickup.

I lost my dad when I was 18, he didn't see me graduate high school. I have never been able to depend on my mother, because she is a drug addict. I think these two things really made me who I am, because if you don't have anybody to turn to or depend on, it kind of forces you into reality. Alot of my friends are my age (23) and older and still live at home with their prenents and work at domino's and other places where they don't make any money.

It's all in the road you take to get there.

Good luck maybe getting yourself a C5 someday. You can do it

U.S. Army- lots of bonus money plus Government employee perks. I found my 98 in 2006 at a government auction for $7500 bucks (drug raid car from what I was told). The money I saved on the car, I put into after market power. Just got done putting in a 427, still breaking it in looking at 500-600 RWHP.

I'm not married nor do I have kids. A steady job helps too, and some what of an education. I also have a 2002 zink yello Mustang GT since 5.5 years ago that I'm trying to sell to ge a truck, and the payments on it kept me from buying a corvette. we get snow here in kansas and I can't drive either one of them on the snow. I'm a chemistry technitial for a company called National Beef Packing.

I think we all got here different ways.... oil fields to white collar jobs. I personally write software for a living and own my own company. I bought mine just about a year ago exactly, and have been thinking about the next one in the collection ever since..

I just bought my vette 2 months ago at the age of 21. I just graduated college and am now working full-time for another college on staff. I had to finance mine, but my budget allows enough to make the payments easily enough. I love the new car!

Just make sure its in your budget. If its not then hold off until you can. The prices of C5's might be pretty cheap right now but if something goes wrong with them, ie. replacing one of the computers, it will be very expensive to fix.

Both my wife and I are bachelor prepped ICU nurses.....have the ZO6, have a 9 sec (a=basically pristine) GN, 2 other cars, a house, take one or two vacations a year, no credit card debt and still sock plenty of money away into savings and investments....IMO, IT'S ALL ABOUT EDUCATION. Be strategic with your life's plan...Work smart, not hard. Make life easier on yourself!!!!

Im 19...I got into the oil business this summer, I have never had a better paying job. Before this summer though I mowed lawns since the time I could walk!!! BTW I PAID for the vette with my money (Not mom and dads) and also pay for college at Oklahoma University with MY money. Being in college...this was probably the worst decision possible, but I work smart and am able to balance the books just fine.

Owning a C5 isn't anymore than buying a new civic or soem economy friendly car. They are fairly cheap. I bought mine 23, I'm 24 now. Chose a C5 over a C6 just because it was the first corvette I fell in love with. I will have it payed off next year and will be getting a C6z or a viper. Just work hard and save your money. I'm sure most 20~yr olds go out and party. I do and it gets damned expensive. lol. Like someone else said the only thing pricey is the parts and maintenance if you don't do the wrenching yourself. I have CCWs,heads,cam,ls6 block,LT's, etc. It's not very cheap. But I know a few guys with C6z that are young 20s. One has a 1000hp TT Z06 and another guy is getting a build 1000hp supercharged Z06 and hes 26. So anything's possible. Don't feel bad if you don't have the funds to get one yet. Just get your priorities straight. Don't try to rush and get it. You will be fine

Good Luck with your search.

I sold my fully restored 68camaro for 2002 Z06 in 2007. With all of the money that I got for my camaro I was able to do a full exhaust with a custom tune. Before I got my camaro I was 23 working full time in the telecommunications field and lived with grandma. Also I was from the lucky sperm club...

Mine's paid for. I got the $ from a death in the family I wasn't even really close with. I probably don't even deserve it. Oh well, life's a bitch.

I saved for a car pretty much my entire childhood. I had some pretty generous relatives during birthdays and Christmas . When I turned 15, my parents gave me 10k for a car. I added this to the money I had saved and invested it all. Around the same time, I got a job as a home installation technician working for Dell, and everything I made that year went into the investments, too. January of last year, 2 months after turning 16 and getting my license, I got my 03 z06. Paid the full amount.
