Default TPMS sensor training

I just put new rims on my 1998 convertible and replaced the TPMS sensors at the same time. I went through the Tire training in the DIC a couple times, and the horn sounds at each wheel, but I still dont get a pressure reading afterwards. What am I doing wrong? does it need to be driven after? Or do i need a stronger magnet?

The sensors/transmitters have an internal centrifugal switch. You must be moving at 7Mph or above for them to start working.

If the horn chirped at each wheel its done. Go for a drive as already mentioned, you have to be moving for them to work.

Hey...you should always go for a test drive when you do something to your Vette.. That's what I tell my wife. Even when I just wash it, got to go check to make sure the airflow over it is correct. Back in a couple hours honey.. I had the same thread last week. Gotta drive it and the numbers magically appear.

If you want to try it without driving the car. Start the engine and go outside and use the magnet to turn on one of the sensors (same as turning the wheel at 7 mph). You should see the pressure reading show up on the DIC.

All is working fine...took it for a drive and the pressures popped right up..I figured it was something simple since I got the horn to chirp. Amazing you can do it yourself with a $5 magnet so easy instead of buying the GM tool or going to the dealer! Thanks for the tips guys!
