my 12 disc cd changer in my coupe is factory installed and sometimes it works and sometimes it does not! I think heat has a factor in it but in the middle of a song it will just quit and then the "err" message will show up on the radio. I have an extended warranty but I cant ever get the changer to show the "err" message at the dealership. Any suggestions ?
I should add that all the cd's are new and not copies or mp3's.
I have had trouble with the little door to the changer not being totally closed. I have also had some bad cd's that has caused the "err" message. Hope this helps!

Nope, not that. I even took out all the cd's and they play fine in the front cd player. I have unpluged the rear player as some have suggested and then replugged it. I checked the door on the cd changer ever time it gives the "err" message and its always closed.
If the damn thing would just quit working I could get a new one with my extended warranty but its got a damn mind of its own when I get to the dealer!!!
When it does give you the 'ERR' message just make a trip by the dealers so you can show it to them! Or take a picture and show them that...why the idiots have to see the error is beyond me, all their gonna do is order a replacement anyway, they won't repair it.

There is a "reset" button on the CD Changer, look in the upper left corner as you look at the changer. You should see a small recessed rubber looking thing. Use a small screwdriver or open paper clip
My 2000 does the same thing periodically. I have yet to figure out why...The Ipod suggestion is a great one, I have that in my truck, but til then, I still wonder why....Sorry I was no help....
Had the same problem with mine in an 03 coupe. Took it to the dealer, I have the extended warranty. They replaced it, put the new one in same problem only worse, replaced again, this time it is ok. The service manager told me they are having alot of problems with these as they age. Can I believe him? He works for a stealership so who knows.
