I don't think it's a scam. If you don't send him a deposit I will. Out of respect for a fellow forum member I'll give you 24 hours then that baby is mine!..
Anyone else also notice all this text blended in with the background under the item description? Looks like pig latin to me but I'm sure it's some legal mumbo jumbo to get this "seller" off the hook!
This is that text:

I had one on 68 Camaro. Told me to sent payment would ship car. I replied, tell me where car is, I'll come look at it, pay cash and drive away. 68 SS all original, he never replied. For what it's worth
Scam, but why don't you string him along; tell him you've got a bank draft for the escrow amount and want to hand him the check when he gets back in the States; ask him where to meet - ask for his phone # so you can call him when he gets back - then watch the BS fly...
that's what like doing,, feed him all the he wants to hear. Like I mentioned earlier lets all send him notes. then we'll post his replies, would be good for a laugh. good entertainment

Great idea I just sent him an email. I will post his response.
I have had many good transactions with craigslist. The most important thing is to only do local, face to face deals. Otherwise you are opening yourself up for scams.
SCAM for sure. I followed up on a couple of these on craigslist when I was looking to purchase; both wanted to use an escrow service. I tried very hard to schedule time to see the car (fairly local within 250 miles of me) and he was always out of town. Both said they would ship to my door free and if I didn't like it I had 7 days to return it - yea right. I might have been born at night, but it wasn't last night

I hope your not serious????
This is blatantly a scam. Like i said previously i have dealt with this EXACT scam in the past.
To the O.P. if you do decide to string this guy out, get as much information out of him as you can. There is a fraud line you can call the websites that have these listings and they will actually report it and give all the data you have to the FBI. I turned in the one that i dealt with and all of the emails and other transaction that we had. Unfortunatly i didn't not really get enough person information out of him to do anything. BE CAREFUL!
I see these ads on craigslist all the time. Any car that is extreemely underpriced and says its in storage or a different part of the country and offers to ship it for free is a scam 100 %. sorry buddy. When he replies to your email he will say that the car is located somewhere else and you cant see it in person.

Ha,
I'll one up you.
Tell him your from Nigeria and will send him triple the amount via money order, he only has to cash the money order and send you part of the money back............
I recieved a reply after asking to see the car in person and pay cash. Here it is... Its amazing that people would even consider buying something sight unseen. I guess there are suckers out there.
Hi again,
As you could see the car is in showroom condition. It is paid in full and will come with the title(clean title), bill of sale signed by me and all the papers that you need to register it under your name.
At this moment I'm out of States and will be back in 3 weeks, the car is in custody of the escrow company. They will handle the shipping and payment for me, since I'm not able to do it myself now.
The payment will be sent to Escrow and I will cash up the payment from them only after you have received the car, the shipping will take 5 to 7 days and will be done through DAS (in case you don't want to buy my vette you'll receive full refund from Escrow and the car will remain in custody of Escrow).
If you wish to proceed, please send me the following information and I will forward it to escrow.com and they will then contact you with further details:
1) full shipping name
2) full shipping address
3) email address
Thank you!
Go to escrow.com, I believe that was his choice, no where on their site do they offer any of these services and in fact they are located in California!
i found this 2003 50th aniversary on craiglist with 17k miles. Asking $18,700 and sounds too good to be true.... Here' the link and the reply i received when i sent an e-mail on it. I asked if i could see the car in person and pay cash... Let's see what he comes back with. What do you all think?
my best price on this beautiful corvette is $18,400.00 (the price is firm). The reason why my price is affordable is that i'm running short on cash these days, (with my wedding coming up and all..) time is pressing me you know.. I could've asked for more, but not sure if i would've sold timely enough for my needs. So that's what makes it a good bargain for anyone willing to take it. The car is stored at a warehouse and can be delivered anywhere within us for free. I have attached all the pics that i've got.
Since i have a tight schedule and i don't have a lot of free time, i would like to use escrow services for this deal because it is a large purchase and i want a smooth transaction. Don't worry about shipping and escrow fees they are already paid by me.
If you are interested email me back and i will give you all the details on how to proceed.
Thank you!
Aditional info:
A deposit of 50% of the total amount will be required before shipping. The deposit will be made to escrow via bank transfer.
The car have the registration on massachusetts but now is stored to a warehouse in nj.

I would say it's a scam. I just sent him an email as well just to see what he responds. I play with these guys all the time on Craigslist. What they want to do is ship it out to you they do not usually want u to see the car, mainly because they do not have it. Then they say if you are not satisfied when you see it just send it back... I would say if you cannot go see it in person then it's not real. Don't send him any money. Stay in touch I'll post what he replies to me. Maybe all of us should then send him emails telling the scammer that your interested see what he says. Ask for the VIN and recent pics, maybe a picture of the title. If you are interested and he's honest then he should have no problem showing you this.
Well, I sent the SCAMMER an email, this is what he said. He said the car has to be delivered , but I told him I wanted to pick it up.. Have a read..

THIS IS WHAT I SENT HIM.... Sounds good but I do not want it shipped. I'm on vacation for the few weeks and would like to come pick up the car and drive it back. My daughter lives in the Boston area and I will be there a few times over this month.
I would bring you the money and do the title transfer all in one day. Let me know .
Joe He didn't respond so I sent him another email. This is what I said.. Please reply and let me know what you want to do now. I am interested, just need to know what the next step is. I'm flexible for time and travel, so whenever the car is ready I can come down.
I'm still waiting to hear from him,, so I'll keep you posted. This guy is definitely a crook ,,
