I have had my 99 for a few months now & everytime I get on it hard I smell this burning odor in the car. It smells like burning brakes. Driving normal there is no smell. When I give it alot of throttle say in my company parking lot or the last stop sign into my street where I live I always get this weird smell. I have found no leaks at all. No oil residue anywhere. No smoke from burning oil, so I don't think it is oil dripping. It smells exactly like someone was riding their brakes down a long windy hill.
When I get out of the car, the only place I can faintly smell it is the engine bay. Doesn't look like any belts are rubbing either. The clutch is a recently replaced Tex oOZ700.
Wondering if it is normal or possibly some issue I should look out for.
Parking break being left on? Dragging caliper? Jack each wheel individually and spin the tire to see if a brake is dragging otherwise I'm thinking your clutch may not be disengaging all the way.

I will have to try the rotating of the wheels. When I get out of the car when I smell the odor, I do smell each wheel & the smell is not there. It seems like it is stronger in the engine bay, but not as strong as in the car.
By the clutch not disengaging all the way, I assume that is caused by me giving it too much gas with the clutch push in?
I did some searching & it seems that others have said a burning clutch is very foul smelling, mine smells exactly like burning brakes or maybe even rubber.
Yeah, a burning clutch is slightly different than brakes, but stinks real bad. I'm wondering if its slipping, therefore burning. Sorry, I messed up the disengaging comment...it should have said not engaging all the way, therefore slipping...had my brain on the brakes.
