Default Hud problem

I have an 02 convertible with HUD and lately I have noticed that it disapears for a while then comes back on. I have been over bumpy roads and that doesn't seem to make it go out but every now and then it's not there. Sometimes when I first get in the car it doesn't come on then it will magically apear 10 min later. I got it checked for a loose connection but they said they couldn't find any and, of course, it worked all the time they had it. It still happens now and I'm wondering if anyone might have an idea whats wrong.

Only thing I can think of is a loose connection. Sometimes with intermittent problems like this you just have to be lucky and be able to get it to the dealer when it acts up or have to wait until it goes out completely.

I'm sure this probably isn't the answer, but sunglasses with UV protection reduce the HUD brightness quite a bit.

Plus, Polarized sunglasses just about make the HUD's image dissapear.
