Default Streetable Power

I am in the market for a C5 z06 and have a question or 2. I would like to find out what the best way to get to ~475whp and not sacrifice daily usability. I am not looking to cut corners so I would like an idea of which way to go, NA or FI. I am looking forward to suggestions and ideas for both. If this has been discussed before(which I am sure it probably has) I am sorry for posing the question as I must have overlooked this topic in my search.

Thanks in advance,

DG

Spend the $$$ and get a supercharger...include the coolimg mist to prevent and detonation. You will always be happy since this is easily the biggest "bang for the buck!"

Either the A&A or ECS kits...both are very complete and will get you the number you want.

I've got the ECS kit, very docile in daily driving, AC works great and runs 9's at the track, can't beat that...

You could also go NA with heads/cam/LT's/CAI & a good tune and hit 475 rwhp+ that is streetable. Check out my sig. I have 429rwhp without heads and mine is a DD.

I'll eventually breakdown and spring for heads later on.

FI is probably the best thing going...but..I love NA. Nothing like hitting the ignition... the roar to life, and the whole car bounces around from the cam. To each his own....they are all awesome !!

You'll have to go bigger cubes or supercharger, unless you just want to get nitrous. But nitrous is only good for drag racing or a street car that you infrequently use it on.

Go FI. You can get it with heads and cam, but at 475 your getting into pretty big cams and the top of heads and cam numbers. With FI your just getting warmed up and not really pushing anything.

Mine did 465 with stock catback on it, just added a Magnaflow and it seems to have picked up some. I'll redyno it this week. It drives like a stock car for the most part. Small cam, TEA LS6 heads, Fast 92 and your there if everything is right.

I'm suprised that many would add weight, heat and potential for problems to make 475hp. It can be done with heads and cam, but thats a pretty healthy cam and you may not like the drivability.
If you can afford it I'd recommend doing a 402 with good heads and a small cam. It isn't the cheapest way, but the best IMO.

forced induction, is hands down the best way. Stock drivability and then all you have to do is lay into the throttle and you will have a reliable 500 rwhp, with exhaust and dual springs you could easily be at a safe 550 to the wheels.

How much weight does super or turbo charging add? I always read about how much power people get, but no one seems to mention how much weight is added.

It all depends on you definition of daily drivable. If you want it to drive 100% like stock then et an A&A or ECS supercharge kit. They are prooven over and over and over again. They make 530-550 rwhp w/ a stock motor and some LT headers. The car will drive like stock until you get on it.

If you want the car to drive 95-97% like OEM stock then you can accomplish your goal with stock cubes NA.

The other option would be to build a mild 402 (stroked LS2 block) or 418 (stroked LS3).

I drove my C5 as a DD with 640rwhp without issues. I ran drag radials for traction when I got on it, but other than that is was easy breezy.
