Fuel pump question
1) Remove the driver's side rear wheel.
2) Remove the plastic "flashing" in the wheelwell. I don't know the correct term for this piece.
3) Under the flashing, there is access to the fuel sending unit assembly. Of course, before removing the fuel sending unit assembly, the gas tank needs to be drained.
Once the Fuel sending unit is removing, the fuel pump is embedded inside the entire assembly. Getting it out is tricky.
(I can't help but put a plug here...In the event you're looking for a stock fuel pump, I have one for sale. PM me if interested)
Partway through model year 2003 (beginning with 2003 VIN 35114929 produced on 11/25/02 so I've read), GM introduced the newly redesigned FFS fuel system on the C5. Later model year 2003 and all 2004 C5s have the redesigned FFS fuel system which was carried over to the C6. With this new design, the fuel filter was moved inside the left fuel tank and is part of the left fuel sender assembly. The left fuel sender assembly also includes a fuel level sensor, the fuel pump and reservoir assembly, the fuel pump strainer and the primary fuel pressure regulator. The left fuel sender assembly is replaced as a complete unit and the tank has to be dropped to replace the sender unit assembly.
