Has anyone powder coated their stock wheels black? I'm curious to see what it would look like. Also would like to see if anyone has had them changed to black chrome. please post some pics and some info on how you had it done and how much it cost. Thank you!

Hey guys I just had this link passed on to me by another member, I had mine done and they look great!! They cost a fraction of what it costs to by new rims, plus the corvette flags are still engraved on the center cap!
My total cost taxes in was under $1000.00 and that included damage repair and retrueing, so they were at factory strength.
I'm gonna have mine done hopefully this fall. There is a place in Indy called indypowdercoat that has some pretty reasonable prices. I think the last Time I figured pricing for mine to get black powdercoat was going to be around $350.
Thats a good price, $350 mine would have cost less but when I bought the car from New Jersey it had been run into a curb and had rim damage on 2 of the tires, so to get that fixed and certified cost more. Plus I had them bead blast the rims for smoothness, and polish the lip.
I love the way they turned out, and they are one of a kind, especially here where no one seems to do much custom work to there vettes.
What do you have to do to prep the wheels before you give them to the powdercoater? How do you get rid of the factory clearcoat? and how do they powdercoat the plastic centers?
The guy I spoke to briefly at Indy Powdercoating said that they had to send them out to have the clearcoat and paint stripped off. I don't know how much more that was going to add to the cost and at the time, I was just poking around ideas, so I didn't go into any detail with him. He said it took about two weeks longer if they had to take them to get stripped. That puts me at at least 3 weeks without my wheels and I don't have another set. That is one reason that I may wait until late fall, early winter to get mine done. I need to drive over there and get more info so i can start to budget.
I was going to have mine done flat black as well but I decided on gloss, yours look great!
The fellow from Indy said a 3 week turn around, That Sucks. Mabey you should come on a vacation to Canada, and have them done here.
I gave them my car they bead blasted, powder coated, put them back on and I had my car back in 3 days.
