well sometimes u can get lucky and turn the bolts down. some times you cant. my pass side spun with it all intact. the drivers side it was so stuck in there i stripped the bolt and ending up taking the hole front suspension out to get the bolt out. There is sprung weight on the bolts and thats what makes them hard to turn.

Been there, done that. Seems like the fronts (my passenger side)are always the problem ones. Glad you got it done.
What affect does this have on the handling/cornering?
Positive results...your lowering the center of gravity of the car. combine that with performance shocks like Bilstein Sports and Z06 sway bars. Car will be like its on rails!

After I lowered mine I went ahead and installed new C6-Z06 shocks and C5-Z06 sway bars w/metal endlinks, had it aligned and to me the handling is superb especially in cornering on spirited runs, there’s not that leaning/swaying side to side on cornering, it’s tight, but that’s mostly due to the sway bars. There’s guys here that could give you a more technical explanation, and I would welcome one also. I'm satisfied.
^ Right above me, see what I mean, a very good explanation...thanks "Ikester"

You need to take the spring pressure off the A-arm.
Put the car up on jack stands. Put the jack under the spring in the Y of the lower arm with a piece of wood or something else that won't damage it between the jack pad and the spring. Jack it up enough to lift the spring off the lower arm. Now adjust the bolt.

I didn't remove the shocks and hit the bolts with PB Penetrant.
