wouldn't surprise me that the kids parents either bought them the car... or co-signed a loan for the car... and were paying the insurance on it to.
For my parents, relatives, and all my neighbors wouldn't ever do such a thing. They knew what would probably happen.
My first car - not only did I buy it with my own money... I had to get my own insurance too.
Yep; back then I thought my 'rents were tight-wads & unfair. But in my mid 20's (after I finally realized they had done the right thing afterall) I thanked them

I thought the same about my parents when I was that age, now that I'm a parent my attitude has changed a lot. My son might get a 2 seater S10 pickup (if he is lucky) until he matures. I tell my wife that there is no way he will be in the Vette unless I'm there in it with him.
He is only 3 now, but my attitude will not change.

Ok young ones, just another prime example as to why your insurance
rates cost more than a mortgage.
Truly a tragic occurance that was avoidable,is your life worth
the bragging rights? If you're gonna race do it at a sanctioned
track or strip.I don't think anyone has hit a telephone pole
on the track yet.
Prayers for those parents that received the worst phone calls
in their lives.
Teenagers and fast cars.... I see this sort of thing all of the time at the school where I teach. Mom and dad buy their kids everything from Evo's and WRX STI's to BMW's, Mustangs and Camaros. One even got a brand new Hummer from his parents!! I haven't seen any Corvettes yet though...
the kids race and wreck the cars (mom and dad usually get it fixed or buy them another one) OR the kids just get a pile of tickets from being reckless, speeding, running stop signs and other traffic violations. They argue who's is faster all the time in class and "brag" about the tickets they have gotten. One even bragged about being "high" behind the wheel one time until I flipped out! It's downright scary knowing that they are on the road with everyone else with such little driving experience and a ton of arrogance and stupidity.

Very sad that it happened. I bought my son a 93 4 dr Honda Accord to drive back and forth to college. When he graduates and gets a job, he can buy what he wants.
