Default Test drive

Hey guys just wanted to tell you i just got home for a test drive of a new Z06 and to be quite honest im not that impressed. There is something about the car i just didnt like. Now saying that i would have to sell my modded 99 FRC just to take advantage of a 36 month 0 percent apr for the z06 which would bring the monthy payments down to a meer 2300 which is more than my morgage. Unfrortunatly i just am not that impressed especially for that kind of money. So ive come to the conclusion that i am a C5 guy and now i know why all the old guys dont upgrade. They just dont like the new stuff. And i am 28 years old maybe i will try a C7 in a couple years

I agree. I drove an 08' 436 hp C6 and while it was nice, I just couldn't justify paying $52,000 for the car. The car was tighter because of it's size and updated suspension, steering, ect. but the "feel" (in terms of power) of the LS3 was similar to the LS1 when I floored it on the straight-away. I ended up with a beautiful 04' C5 for half the cost and I'm glad I went that route.

I tend to disagree and I have a slightly modified C5 You got to drive one in the twisties and then the handling and power shines over the C5. I have power to out run them, but even with my supension changed out to the C5Z no comparison in handling and I like the update interior

Oh I am getting a base 09 Coupe for a DD, for the comfort and one to take on long trips

Compared to the C5 overall I didn't care for the interior. The dash sits too high on the passenger side (difficult to see over) and the cupholder looks cheap and way out of place. The seats were awesome (two-tone oak and black) and I loved the doorsills though.

Overall, I think the C5 has nicer flowing lines to it. It looks sleek and long. I thought I liked the C6, but the more I looked at them, I didn't care for several things including the headlights, the shorter length, or certain details in the interior. And for $25,000 less, I know I made the right decision.

I drove a C6 Z51 the other day...didn't like it at all. I'll stick with my C5 for 30k less any day.

I drove an '07 vert about two years ago and was very impressed with the comfort, handling and overall feel of the car. Just goes to show you that everyone has their likes/dislikes when it comes to the C6.

When I went Vette searching I looked at, and drove, '08 models. I wanted a white vert and I found both an '04 C5 and a '08 C6. The deal breaker was that the '04 was/is pristine, had only 3,800 miles and with a full GMPP the negotiated price was $32K. The '08 sticker was $60K (of course that was sticker - not negotiated).

I actually like the lines of the C5 better - I like the Vette headlights folding away - it is more Vette-like when they do. I did not drive the '08 hard but the '04 did not feel that much different. There were more options on the '08 (HUD, paddle shifters, powered top, XM radio, better cup holder), but other than that the '04 felt just fine.

It came down to a simple decision - was the '08 with 3,780 less miles and more goodies worth an additional $28K.

The answer...??

See below.

I'm one of the aforementioned "old guys," and find the C5 meets or exceeds my needs. Enough power, handling, economy, low insurance rates, quality, styling, and no car payments make me a happy camper.

I am a C5 guy and will be for some time because of the cost of a C6Z, If I had the money to get a C6Z I would have it for sure, There is no doubt it is a fine machine, Maybe when I hit the loto I will have one.

I actually like both cars. Of course I also like the C1, the C2, etc. Because they're Vette's.

However, I'm partial to my C5. With only 23K miles and not a stone chip or a scratch anywhere, it's perfect for me. I'm kind of into the "perfection" aspect. It does run very fast. Although, with the additional horsepower the C6 does have that advantage.

And I don't mind at all that the C6 is six inches shorter. I like the look.

Bottom line: If you're giving one away for free, I won't turn either one down.

Default More stuff

Well at least im not the only guy who feels that way i wanted the new C6z but i haddent driven it thank god the dealership let me have it for a couple of hours. So i could really try it on. I also feel that the C5 design is very unique in itself. I guess its like seeing a really hot girl at the bar and you start talking to her and realize she isnt really all that and you say to yourself you have something much better sitting at home waiting for you. I hope my C5 ist mad at me for hanging out with a C6Z.

I thought the interior on the C6 was nicer than the C5 and ride quality was a little better...I still like my C5 more though

That is one sweet vert... Very classy. Does that wind screen really make a difference? I've been tempted to try one.

Thank you. There are some classier white verts on here than mine, but I'm happy with it. As to the net, please read a post I made HERE

I've read different. Most people think the C6Z handles well and has loads of power. More than any Stock C5. I think the C6Z's look nice. I love the C5 but there are just too many lol. Doesn't mean I'll get rid of mine.

I'd take a c6z over my modded c5. No question.
