Dual Cone Intake
Currently out of town on a business trip. Have not found an affordable vendor (sanctioned or not) with a 2004 dual cone setup with red filters. Hoping to get this taken care of upon my return. Any suggestions???

As for performance, I can't really say. I've never been on a dyno to compare numbers, but then again the car has enough kick to keep me satisfied.
It also makes a very cool hissing sound when accelerating, which is fun because I always imagine that big beefy V8 inhaling and flexing its muscle.
I'm sure there are much better performance intakes out on the market but for looks, I would definately recommend the chrome dual cone intake.

You modify the engine mechanically to increase airflow potential through it.
You modify the PCM tuning to add the additional fuel to support that increased airflow.
If you add air, but don't add fuel...yes, you will run leaner.
Fuel trims compensate for this well enough to accommodate bolt-on items. like air filter and headers, so I'd tend to believe you had more of a mechanical issue at fault, or a bad WB02 reading to run as lean as you claim, or you simply didn't wait long enough to let the LTFTs settle in and compensate..
In closed loop, the PCM will always adjust fuel trims in attempt to keep you at the 14.7 stoich setting. If it doesn't seem to do that, and throws no lean codes, your afr measuring equipment would be suspect.

most of the time when you run way to lean after a bolt on like this..it's a mechanical problem and something is not buttoned up tightly enough. The stock tune in the car will compensate as Tom stated above. Gm would not make the engine so delicate as to let a bolt on differrent air filter cause damage to the motor. You just need to let the computer compensate and clear the code. The twin cone is not a bad design..but I personally went with the Vararam because it is a true CAI (cold air intake).
I purchased a dual cone setup with red filters from Corvette America parts for under $200. You can find them on the web.
