July the 30th we traveled from Southern California to the top of the continental divide to attend “Vettes on the Rockies.” We climbed four mountain ranges, in temperatures of 100+ degrees.
On day one of the trip, we covered 665 miles. We traveled at 80+MPH, and our ’02 coupe got 32.5 MPH! There were 13 cars, I got the second best mileage, a C6 manual got the best.
Last year I drove from Portland Oregon to Bakersfield CA. average speed 70-75 mph.... 32.4 mpg
AC on cool and comfy all the way.
Portland Oregon to Port Townsend WA. Return via Olympic National Park ..... Hills , curves and 1 hr behind a US Coast Guard boat on a trailer ( somebody shot a whale )
Round trip 29.9 mpg
In town 19-22 all the time.
I drive like a old man but thats a problem when you get older.
Fabulous MPG!! I imagine a lot of miles at altitude helped a little bit,but it had to be getting good mileage to start with. In the old days your carb would have been running pig rich. These modern wonders just keep leaning it out till it runs right!! Modern technology ain't all bad!!
