I bought a98 vette about 6months ago. I could tell that the previous owner had done some work in the engine bay. What I know for sure that is has a FAST intake, Halltech bridge, and a breathless vortex airbox. My mysterious hose is attached by the vortex box goes into a part under the drivers headlight into a car part of some sort, comes out on a serperate hose and ends up by the drivers side ground clamp and brake fluid fill tank. At the end of this hose by the ground clamp it is not attached to anything but blows air out. In addition, the hose by the vortex box draws a vaccum and it seems to blow out of the other hose end by the ground clamp. it seems that the hose should connect to something on the drivers side but I can't see where it goes. The car runs and idles good but this hose is a mystery or is it a aftermarket mod that was taken off and the hose was left behind?? any help is welcome....
That would be your AIR pump. If it's not connected, then I"ll bet you have a few codes, unless it's been tuned out by the previous owner.
Here's a thread with lots of info on the system, including pics which should show you where everything is supposed to hook up. If you don't have any codes, then it's probably been turned off in the PCM. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...t=check+valves
I always have few codes....Which codes should I look for??? It seems not to effect the car's performance, probably turned off at the tuner... I also remembered that it had Kook's headers. That's probably the reason for the disconnection...
