I am looking to buy new tires for my 2002 C5 and find there are only limited options for the 275/40/18 rears. Is there another tire size that would fit the rear OEM 18 wheels. The GS-D3's in this size have been out of stock for 4 months. Any suggestions - Any comments on Pirelli P Zeros (good reviews but they don't come in the 275/40/18 size either).

Goodyear, Michelin and Pirelli are great tires but they are not worth the money IMO. All the other tires like Kumho, Avon, Toyo etc are just as good if not better. Lets just be honest with each other, you will never sustain 175+mph in the US for an given amout of time. Good luck.
There are other tire sizes. I bought some wheel/tire from a forum member, and all the rubber was a little bit off of stock. From looking, I've found that sometimes you can get a little better deal.
Easiest thing is to go to Discount tire/tire rack web sites and play with sizes. There are also online tire size calculators which will compare your stock size to any other size, and you can see if it's bigger, smaller, shorter, etc. and how much. I'm running a little shorter profile tire than stock, but according to the calculator, it's minimal change on the speedo, plus, I can tell in pricing, it saved some cash.
