Default TPIS LT Headers - increased heat?

For those of you that have TPIS LT Headers (or any other header for that matter) - did you notice any increased heat inside the car after you put the headers on? If so, how much of a difference is it from stock? Thanks.

no, I didn't. The center console area was warm before the headers and is still warm after the headers.

I had them on my 00' convertible and noticed no difference in interior heat, I will be putting them on my Z06 next week. :)

You asked about heat inside the car.. I would also worry a bit about underhood heat.

My Z06 has nice stainless steel heat shields that conform to the factory manifolds. I am certain that any header that did not have the shields would create significantly higher underhood temps.

A couple other considerations - the clutch fluid rapidly breaks down due to heat on even a stock car, the A/C lines are routed close to the headers, and there are other components that are heat shielded in the engine compartment.. Bottom line, the design assumes those heat shields are in place.

From the Department of Redundancy Department, no, no additional heat here either!

I had TPIS long tubes on my 01 Z and they're on my 02. Both sets were ceramic coated. The coating is designed to minimize heat radiation so I would not be surprised if there was less under-hood heat versus the factory cast iron manifolds.

I had the new Breathless Performance LT Step Headers installed 2 months ago ON MY '02 Z06. The quality and design of the headers are EXCELLENT.

I left the main cats intact as well as the Ti's...no X pipe. Very little popping and cracking during deceleration.

My Z has been dyno'd many times including before and after each Mod to determine the true expectations of each Mod.....no placebos fo me!.

At the crank inclusive of the the COMPLETE Vortex system I am at 446HP(crank).

I plan on upgrading the PCM and injectors to fully complete the performance aspect of my Z06.

I am extremely satisfied with every performance mod to date and would highly recomend them to fellow enthusiasts. Ernie and his staff at BPP are very professional and concerned that their customers are satisfied with their products and services. Fubu/Les

Les, good numbers!!!! We are doing TPIS headers, Random Tech high flow cats, 30 lb injectors, ported t-body and reprogramming, I will post the numbers after the dyno, it should run good. ;)

Les,

I am also going to install the complete Vortex air intake kit (sitting in my garage now...just waiting for the car to show up;)) and would appreciate it if you could give your dyno numbers with this mod before and after the header install.

After seeing some of the sad results with the shorty headers, I'm thinking that if I do indeed go with headers, they will be long tubes.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Carl, those Hi-Flo cats will gain you some significant ponies...A friend of mine added those cats and gained 10 or 12 more HP's... I may go that route as well.

Carl, you are the DEVIL! :reddevil You created a Monster with me doing all this stuff with my cars! ;) Les
