Friend of mine has a 2003 Z06 that he had painted a while back with tribal flames by a local painter. I painted some pieces under the hood to go with the yellow in the flames & made him a battery den cover out of clear lexan & painted it black on the back side for contrast. Came out pretty good & he likes it. The manifold cover did have red stripes & I redid them in yellow.
I also made some smooth fender well covers for my Mag Red coupe & painted them with Candy Apple Red model car spray paint from the backside also & then used velcro strips to hold in place. Used vinyl door edge molding to finish off the covers.
Now you just need to get rid of those other non-essential components....like that ugly alternator and brake master cylinder....they're ugly, get rid of them!!
No, really, great engine bay and paintwork...schweet....wish mine was even close to competing!

WOOO,, I gotta get my shades!!! I admire your patients and talent!! You don't just knock that out in a 1/2 hour on your garage work bench.Makes me want to get under my hood a little bit this winter (cant let it sit very long right now!! Looks like you did a good job on the color match as well!!

I love DIY.......I am a firm believer in it. Thanks for the idea. What did you use ? Lexan, clear ? thanks.
Thanks folks, glad you like them.
Used .093 thick clear Lexan from Home Depot. Friend made me templates from his after market covers & I bought a used tabletop band saw & cut them out & then sanded the edges smooth. Used velcro strips to hold them in place & make the bend on the leading edge near headlights.
I'm going to do them over with a new sheet of Lexan tho. I didn't like the way the paint came out. I used Candy Apple Red Metallic from a hobby shop (on all painted pieces) in spray cans & I think I can do better on applying it. Have some metallic runs & the stuff is on very thin & after a couple of days where I stuck the velcro is showing thru the paint. I should have gone lighter on the coats & just put on more coats & then after the metallic had set up, I should have put some coats of flat black over that so the velcro wouldn't show thru.
I might even make some more sets if there was an interest in them.
