Maybe someone who has had the hid conversion for

i have been using xetronic for years. a japanese import. suppose to be the best out there. a little more pricey than the others but color wise you get exactly what you ask for.
I bought a Mculloch 6000k kit and was unaware of the headlight issue until I read about it. In other words, I never had a problem with it. I am quite happy with mine.
I have ACA's XGL headlamps but you can't find much on them on the internet their web address on the back of the installation manual is incorrect. Appears they went through a corporate name change and they are in Canada. Search google for ACAHID and you should find them. I haven't found a better looking setup although they are very expensive.
Most all HID kits you pickup have 1 year warranties and thats all. I've bought number HID kits from all different kinds of companies and they have all lasted a while.
I know this is not what you are looking for as far as a brand name but the kit I bought from Jhonathan_W above was very simple to install and has worked well since I installed it. A good vendor will be just as important as the product itself. Good luck in your search.
retro-solutions.com offers 55w HID kits. I'm using 2 of their kits in 6000k. Keep in mind most HID kits (including those sold my forum vendors) are usually 35w. The 55w kits have double sealed capsules and specifically designed high power ballasts.
On top of a great product, their customer service is outstanding. They'll answer any questions you have and if your not satisfied, they'll make it right.
I am getting a kit from Jhonathan above and bought the resistor from that co. on here so I wont have to hit my high beams anymore to drop the lights, will cost me $95 for everything!

Smart man I am getting the 55watt kit in soon. They will be a little more expensive though.
The "most effective" kit would be a system that has not just a bulb and ballast but a engineered projector housing that replaces the OEM reflectors that were never designed for an HID bulb.
Such a kit is made by ACA and several vendors sell the full kits with the replacement light housings for a C5 as well a Phillips Ballasts and bulbs. Be prepared for prices from around $700-$1200 for a set.
Do a search for ACA lights on CF and you can see installed ACA lights.......or look up jdmvette, he has lots of ACA pics posted.
An ACA set will give you high quality lighting that is designed to work properly with a sharp cut off on the beams.
