Skip shift. It's a gas tax thing.

You can avoid it by shifting at higher RPM's or getting a CAGS and killing it all together.

Hope that helps

Peace

Here is a link to a supporting vendor who carries the CAGS
http://www.corvettegarage.com/produc...-corvette.html

The best way is to complete the 4th gear shift and then go for 3rd...
or
Double clutch it and shift to third.

Peace

A lot of interesting information can be found in the owners manual.
If you didn't receive one, you can read/download the owners manual courtesy of Gene Culley on GMPARTSHOUSE, a site supporting vendor in the column to the left.
He can also get you a hard copy of the manual (different manual than what you're new to)...

When the 1st to 4th light is on you cannot shift to 2nd or 3rd, you must shift to 4th,5th or 6th. If your problem shifting into 3rd occurs when the light is off you have a transmission related problem. If it happens when the light is on that is normal. For about $20 and 20 minutes you can eliminate the 2nd, 3rd lock out system by installing the CAGS. The dash light will still come on but you will be able to shift when you want.

Anyone else wonder how you get to be a senior member in a month, and not know about CAGS?

I know I am just too cynical...sorry

The cags eliminator is well worth the price, and a handy thing to have as it comes into play in several local/low speed applications.
