If you're referring to a leaking differential it's most likely on the driver's side. I just had this fixed a few weeks ago, the dealer charged about $100 for the seals and fluid and $300 in labor. Judging from a lot of the posts I've read, I got a good deal on the labor charge. Good luck.
Make sure whoever does the work will give you some kind of warranty. Mine went in about four times before GM finally decided that it was a faulty diff and replaced the whole thing under extended warranty. Good luck.
The Chevy dealer in cincinnati told me it would cost around $1700, they said it was over 10 hours in labor. That can't be right can it? I also have a 3 month 3000 mile powertrain warranty from the dealer I just bought it from, would this be covered?

The differential and tranny are all parts to the powertrain. I'd press them on the fix.

I went back to one of my invoices and found out that for one of the fixes the extended warranty company was charged about 350 dollars. 215 was in labor and the rest was parts. They took the left cover off the diff and replaced the O ring and cleaned out the old sealer. they then resealed the whole thing. The other 3 times I had it in was under the original warranty so I do not have a cost breakdown. I would check some other dealers. This is a very common problem on the C5 and I would look for a dealer who has had some experience in repairing it. Good luck
It all depends on what's leaking. Typicaly the differential leakes from the driver's side half-shaft seal, it's a common issue that can be fixed quickly. To fix the trans seal you have to pull the differential out to get to it, much more labor involved.
They said the transmission and the differential was leaking and both needs new seals. Now when I tell them it might be under warranty they are saying it is only seeping and usaully is not covered by warranty. They basically told me just to keep an eye on it since I don't drive it everyday it shouldn't be a problem. It sounds like the other dealership may take care of it but I'm not sure, I sure hope so though!
