Default charging issues

i am having some charging issues. When i first bought my 02 Z i had to put a new battery in it. i figured since the car had not been driven a lot the battery just went bad. A few weeks ago i went out of town for 8 days and when i got back the car had a hard time starting like the battery was week (new battery/2 months old). i drove it for a couple of hours and everything seemed fine. Today i get in my car to go somewhere and when i started it a charging system fault warning came across the dash for a second or two and went off. The car again seemed like it had a hard time starting. It had been less than 24hrs since i had driven the car also. I have noticed also sometimes my memory settings dont work. Sometimes my seat does not go back when i turn the car off or forward when i start it. Make me wonder if i have some sort of electrical problem in the car. I have read if the car sits more than a couple of weeks the battery can get very low. Oh also when i first pulled out in my car this morning my heads up display showed check gauges for a few minutes. I always have the display turned off (dont like it) but it showed up anyways for a few minutes. Almost like was a warning that my battery was low. Very similar thing happened when i had to replace the battery before but the display went off today. I have started it a couple of times since this morning and everything seems fine right now. Anyone have similar problems or know of a possiable cause? thanks

ive had the "charge system fault" show up if i let off the key when starting just a second too soon but the motor still fires....leading me to believe its an alternator problem. my seat does not always automatically move into position for me either, i have to press the mem. button. mine sat all last week while i was in vegas and was a LITTLE slow to turn over, but did so just fine....sorry its not much of an answer for you, perhaps i can get some info on the charge system fault as well...

The only time I got the message was when I let the clutch pedal up too soon during a start, it when away once I started properly. What brand of battery did you buy, I know most of the AGM's don't like to sit without a charge. My friend went on a week long vacation and his C6 was dead as a door ****.

I would check that your battery cables are good and tight and then you might just want to clean up your ground connections. There is a major one just between the battery and the engine on the top of the frame rail. Just loosen the nut and pull the wires off and use a wire toothbrush to clean up any corrosion.

The wires near the starter are close to the exhaust manifolds you might just want to look around for any black loom that feels a little crispy (burnt) rather than soft like it should be.
