No big deal, just got my windows tinted. But in case fellow members in the LA/OC area are looking for a reputable shop, this is one of them. I went over to Best Tint Auto Center in Stanton.
I went with Solar Guard's 5% (Limo Tint) in the rear and UltraPerformance 75% on Driver's & Passenger's side. This really blocks the heat out. I'm really satisfied and am also going to have this put on on my other car (Daily Driver).
The rear window looks awesome now! I was really concered with the DOT Matrix problem but ended up just having to deal with the way it looks under the normal installation process - to try and get as much of it to stick in between the DMatrix. I came across some tinters that said they would paint it, use a vinyl film (sticker), and the worse sand down the DMatrix. I didn't want to mess with it what so ever. Besides, after 2 days, I already don't notice it and it doesn't bug me.
One thing I can't go without is tint. Mine was done before I bought my car, and they used vinyl to cover the matrix. You can't tell it though. It looks good.
I would love to tint mine. But here in NJ the cops will ticket you for it. But even worse, it won't pass inspection. I have 5% on my Camaro all the way around and I DREAD when inspection time comes around. I can't take it to state inspection and no garage wants to touch it because they'll get a $10,000 fine and loss of inspection license if they are caught.
If I ever tint the Vette, it'll only be the back window.

Same here, no tint in NJ. I convinced myself that I have a bitchin car, why wouldnt I want folks to see me driving it... but I really like the way tint looks. I just don't need the NJPD, state boys or locals to find a reason to pull me over. No front plate and no cats don't need any asistance in the "hey pull me over" factor.
My brothers have tint on their vettes and havent had a probelm. I just dont think I'll be that lucky.
This is an example as to how dark the windows in all my vehicles are...(Dont have any side shots that show the Vettes, sorry)...I run limo tint all the way around....Tint laws arent enforced much in Colorado (Ive been all over the state in my vehicles, never stopped for it)...However, if you dont run a front plate you'll get tagged in a heartbeat....

Now what fun would that be???....Besides, our department doesnt even have a tint-meter...That's how low of a priority tint laws are here...
Good thing...even my DD has limo-tint...
