Exhaust question...
I finally enlisted my neighbor to help me get the muffler back on. The problem was that the H pipe was offset about an inch from where the muffler pipe was hitting, so we had to pull the H pipe over to get it lined up. It's all back together now, but I haven't driven it yet.
I only put the muffler pipe inside the H pipe by about an inch, then put the clamp on and tightened it down. My question is this: Is a one inch overlap enough to hold it on securely? I'm thinking that since the pipes weren't lined up to begin with, there's probably a lot of side pressure between the pipes, not counting the extra security of the clamp.
Do you think it's safe to drive it the way I did it, or should I loosen the clamp and shove the muffler pipe in further (and leave my exhaust tips crooked)? And suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
I don't want to drive it down the road and have it come off and tear up the rear end.
Thanks for your expertise.
