...it is the Deltran Battery Tender Plus with the cool Museum logo on it ...I bought one for just that reason...had it since 2001 and working fine...

Sounds like a battery problem or something draining the battery. I still have the original battery in my 2003 and drive it only every 2 to three weeks and never have any problems. No tender/charger of any kind on it.
Its a none fact that a C5can pull the battery down in 10 to 14 days. I always keep a battery tender on my C5 and C3 when I am not using them. If nothing else it will extend your battery life 5 to 7 times.
Ctek--is my choice--more advanced than deltran--both good but dont buy the cheap crap from harbor freight or any others--they look like they were designed in grade school--by 1st graders--

but those that have them say they work every bit as well as the higher priced ones...hmmmmm...

Ever read the book, "All I need to know I learned in Kindergarten?" I have three HF floats. Never had a problem with any. Friend of mine uses two on a his $200,000+ JD combine and they never failed him. Yes, they are cheap, look cheap and yet seem to work. Why should we stop using them?
ok here comes the stupid question, since the vette stays in Hibernation, why not just unplug the battery , and then reconnected it in the spring time?
A battery that sits for a long period of time without "excitement" (charging) will start to sulfate. Little particles fall from the plates to the bottom of the battery. When these particles build up and touch the bottom of the plate, they short the cell, then battery no workee.
The problem occurs primarily in Vettes, and boats, that are stored and ignored, for the winter. A trickle charger or tender will help to slow sulfating, thus extending battery life.
It wasn't a criticism, just an opinion...like yours. And I'll repeat what I said above...it's your car to do with as you please.
I knew a guy who left the piece of $hit on for 2 months and one day Lucky he was home he smelled a burning smell from the garage--yep the cheap harbor frieght unit was burning the battery--need I say more!!
I have a 04 and have been having a low battery problem for the past 2 weeks. From all of my research it appears my driving habits around town with an automatic is not allowing my Optima red top to keep a sufficient charge due to low rpm. My conclusion seems to indicate that I am going to have to change my driving habits or buy a battery charger like the CTEK 3300. Any comments or wisdom on this will be appreciated. Thanks...

The battery is about 12 months old and I drive the auto about 30 minutes per day. (all in-city traffic)....I have used a battery charger to re-charge the battery twice in the past 2 weeks but the voltage drops below the critical 12.4 volts after 2-3 days and often hardly cranks the engine over and most of the settings on my memory and clock have to be reset. I have had Optima batteries in other autos for the past 15 years but this problem has not occurred before. Any ideas besides a bad battery?
Well I choose to buy a battery tender from 'Restoration Battery' it's called 'Battery Minder' I saw their ad in NCRS 'Driveline' and I have to say it does everything the Ctek and more and costs $58.00, It's a 1.3 amps float charger, automatically dissolves sulphation using high frequency pulse technology and a 3 mode settings, charges to 14 volts, UL approved listing, it has a 1 year money back warranty. It has a built in thermostat so it will never overcharge a battery guaranteed. If you don't like it for any reason, you get your money back no questions asked.
you can leave it hooked 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and it will not damage your battery. Will actually keep it conditioned ready to go at a moments notice.
